Well… I can’t say it worked for me. *&#(^#(#$!
Instead of losing, I gained/maintained. Don’t get me wrong, I did lose some weight after having Sophia. But, I still had 21 lbs to lose to get back to my pre-prego weight.
I was hoping to be back into my pre-prego clothes before I went back to work in September but that was wishful thinking. I had to buy bigger shirts and a few pairs of pants; two sizes bigger than my normal size for work. Yes, I did wear my maternity pants, too! Couldn’t help it, they are so comfy!
I knew I had to do something whether it was to exercise or try a diet plan. I’m embarrassed to say, I didn’t want to exercise because I wanted to spend all my time with Sophia.
For those of you who know me, I know your jaw just dropped. I loved to go to the gym, walk the track, do Insanity Workouts, play softball, you name it! But, it’s true- once you have a baby, EVERYTHING changes!
So, with exercising not being my first option, I figured I’d try the diet route.
J.Simps immediately came to mind.
::I’m going off topic here for a second but, I have to go there:::
I am a fan of Jessica Simpson. I love her as a signer, actress and designer. However, she was one of the biggest prego mamas I have ever seen! Power to her for not caring but my goodness, she made some poor fashion choices that were not flattering.
Seriously?! |
Ok, I’m done now.
I jumped on Weight Watchers website and did some research. I could download the app. to my iPhone and iPad and noticed the new point system is “nursing” friendly. After reading that, I was sold!
The Weight Watchers apps. are so user-friendly. I found it the most helpful when grocery shopping while trying to determine points-per-servings. You can also search for recipes, scan barcodes for point values, track your weight and measurements, and so much more!
I joined the morning of September 17th (five months after having Sophia) and that afternoon, I bought a bag of Reese’s Mini Peanut butter cups. Thanks to Sophia, I now have such a sweet tooth. I didn’t want to deprive myself of what I wanted craved (happened after pregnancy for me) to eat.
So, my first week, I only lost two pounds. I was a bit discouraged but I figured since I invested $60.00 for a three-month trial, I better stick-with-it for at least three months.
Within my first month, I lost six pounds. It may not sound like a lot of weight but I definitely felt slimmer. My clothes were feeling baggy- YAY!
Two months on WW= 13 lbs
Three months on WW= 17 lbs (December, hard month to lose weight)
Four months on WW= 23 lbs (reached my goal weight!)
Five months on WW= 25-26 lbs (happy at this weight and weigh less than before I became pregnant)
I can proudly say following Weight Watchers has helped me get to a comfortable weight and taught me how to eat while nursing. I also believe getting back to work and establishing a routine contributed to some of my weight loss.
I am going to have a separate post with my favorite WW meals and recipes. You can get a sneak peak by checking out my WW board on Pinterest.
Andrew also joined WW and he is down 10 lbs in 1.5 months! You go babe <3
I share my weight loss story with you because it wasn’t easy and it is possible to get back to your pre-prego weight. It took me 9 months after having Sophia, but I did it! I followed a plan and it worked! It could work for you! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask away.
